Shine Bright Like a Diamond

Wow is all I can say when meeting with Sheetal from Maharani Jewels!  She is such an amazing person and the Queen when it comes to knowledge about Diamonds.  She has worked for world renowned diamond companies such as Birks and Spence Diamonds and has travelled the world and worked with top Diamond dealers in New York, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Dubai, as well as auction houses like Christies and Sotheby’s.

Prat and I both went to the showroom and were mesmerized before we even took our coats off.  Her designs were amazing and her showroom was just perfect.  She began by explaining to us about diamonds, misconceptions we have on diamonds and the most important facts about diamonds.

1.  90% of the world’s diamonds, in volume, are cut in Surat, India

2.  Appraisal value means very little!  When you hear people saying “I bought my ring for $4000 but it got appraised at $10,000and therefore I got a great deal—this is an absolutely false statement.  The appraisal value doesn’t mean that the value of the ring is $10,000.  All the   appraisal value states is the cost of replacing the piece of jewellery if it were lost or stolen, and this value should be the value you paid for the piece.

This is only some of the things she educated us on.  She also advised that Canada only allows “Conflict free” Diamonds into the country as it is a key participant of the Kimberly Process so for those who are worried about “Blood Diamonds” you don’t have to when it comes to purchasing here in Canada.

Sheetal is very knowledgeable when it comes to diamonds.  She is very thoughtful, honest and a very kind hearted person.  She wants to ensure that she provides the highest in customer service along with providing the education the client needs to make that perfect decision.

Every couple should go meet with Sheetal at least one time – you will understand.  You are purchasing an item that will be with you for a lifetime – make sure you have all the answers.
